Lacrosse opens season on the road Wednesday

GAINESVILLE, Ga. (Mar. 1, 2021) – The Truett McConnell University women's lacrosse team is set to begin their 2021 season at Appalachian Athletic Conference opponent Brenau University on Wednesday, March 3. Game time is set for 3:00 p.m.

TMU's last season season was cut short due to COVID-19 but the Lady Bears recorded the program's most-ever wins in a season (4-2, 3-0 AAC) and punched their ticket to the AAC tournament, which was also canceled, for the first time in program history. TMU was undefeated in the AAC winning all three games by no less than 13 goals.

The 2020 season also featured the Lady Bears' first-ever AAC Offensive Player of the Week, junior Hope Foster, who is amongst the team's key returners for the 2021 season. Hope Foster led the Lady Bears with 16 goals, seven assists and 40 shots, leaving her ranked No. 3 nationally in shots per game (10.0). Returning junior, Holly Foster, followed up with 12 goals, five assists, and 39 shots, ranking No. 6 nationally in shots per game (9.750).

Sophomore Carter Culverhouse is also amongst the key group of returners. Culverhouse accumulated a total of 24 shots, averaging six per game, with 22 on target (5.5 average a game).

"TMU Lacrosse is excited to begin our 2021 campaign," Head Coach Channing Hoyt said. "Our athletes themselves are ready to get to competition. Many oh mile in cardio and hours of stick skill development have gotten us tuned up, but ultimately looking forward to the team operating in game mode. Thankful for the opportunity, looking forward to the season."
