The Department of Sports Medicine, along with the Department of Athletics, is committed to ensuring the safety of our student-athletes at all times. We promise to give the best possible care available if an injury arises during any sport related activities.
All TMU coaches are CPR certified and are required to attend annual training in emergency care taught by our athletic training staff. If an injury is sustained on campus, we use the emergency department at Northeast Georgia Medical Center located in Gainesville, Georgia. NGHS has been ranked among the top 50 hospitals in the United States, and we are fortunate to have them close by. Our team physicians are highly trained to handle orthopedic, vascular, neurological, and other similar injuries and are easily accessible.
Our sports medicine team consists of a full-time Certified Athletic Trainer (AT), other available AT's through Northeast Georgia Physicians' Group (part of NGHS), and a Sports Medicine Physician. We have many resources available to care for our athletes.
If you ever have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact Truett McConnell's Director of Sports Medicine, Hailey Lewis.
