Channing Hoyt is entering into his second season as the head women's lacrosse coach. Hoyt comes to TMU with a strong background in lacrosse. Originally from Davenport, Iowa, Hoyt would make his way down south where he ended up transferring into South Forsyth High School as a sophomore. He was a three year member of South Forsyth High School's boys varsity team. Also, Hoyt was an avid soccer player growing up and involved with YoungLife.
Hoyt was a part of Reinhardt University's inaugural season for men's lacrosse. He played all four years as a team captain at Reinhardt University. Hoyt was a 2-time SELC Honorable Mention midfielder while he was at Reinhardt. Hoyt earned a Bachelor's of Science in Sports Administration from Reinhardt University.
Hoyt had this to say about coming to Truett McConnell, "I am thankful to be here at Truett McConnell. I am looking forward to pouring into our solid Christian athletes what I learned throughout my college career and life in general. My hope is to retain the current team and build towards a successful program on and off the field. Our current team has worked hard and become a fine group of young women who love the Lord. I am excited to be a part of the athletic department that we have here who all are passionate about student athletes."
In addition to Truett McConnell women's lacrosse, Hoyt coaches for 3d Lacrosse, which is a lacrosse training program and travel team. Hoyt also assists with South Forsyth High School's Varsity and JV boys teams. Hoyt believes in the concept that "hard work does work."
Hoyt's favorite verse of Scripture comes from Hebrews 12:11-13 where it is written, “No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it. Therefore, strengthen your feeble arms and weak knees. 'Make level paths for your feet,' so that the lame may not be disabled, but rather healed.”
Hoyt currently resides in Alpharetta, GA.
