Box Score WALESKA, Ga. (April 20, 2023) – On Thursday, the Truett McConnell University women's lacrosse team traveled to compete in the opening round of the Appalachian Athletic Conference Tournament, hosted by Reinhardt University. The Lady Bears faced No. 3 Georgetown, where they closed their 2023 season with a final score of 27-3.
 
PLAY-BY-PLAY
In the first quarter, Georgetown was first on the board, forcing the Lady Bears to respond early with two goals of their own by Shelby Nail and Katie Smith (8-2). In the second quarter, eager to increase the scoring deficit, Georgetown scored seven more goals, forcing the Lady Bears to work hard from behind (15-2). 
 
In the third quarter Georgetown scored eight more goals (23-2). The fourth quarter saw the Lady Bears work hard on defense as they held Georgetown to four goals. A last chance effort in the final quarter by Marlo McBrayer wasn't enough to secure the lead, as the Lady Bears fell to a final score of 27-2.
 
LEADERS
Nail led the way with one goal, taking five shots with three on goal. McBrayer followed with one goal, taking one shot and seven ground balls. Smith had one goal, taking one shot and three ground balls. Goalie Madison Franklin had 13 saves on the day.
