CLEVELAND, Ga. (Feb. 8, 2021) – For the first time in Truett McConnell University history, the men's volleyball team will open their 2021 inaugural season inside the TMU Volleyball/Wrestling Arena on Thursday, Feb. 11. The Bears, who are a member of the Mid-South Conference, will face No. 12 Life University at 7:00 p.m.
"I am excited as we prepare to get our inaugural men's volleyball season started," Head Coach Mark Corbin said. "In a year of uncertainty, I am excited that things have come together and that we have enough players to compete. We are a young team with a lot of potential.
The team is made up of both guys that have played at the club level and those with very little to no playing experience. The men have been working very hard in practice to improve their individual skills and unify as a team at the same time. This season we look to build the foundation for our program and work on bringing in future recruits that can help our team grow to be a contender for conference championships. The guys have a lot of energy and excitement for this season and I look to use those attitudes to help them flourish."
The Bears will have a quick turnaround as they will host another Mid-South opponent, Reinhardt University, at 12:00 p.m., on Saturday, Feb. 13. TMU's inaugural schedule consists of five home competitions and 11 road competitions.
"Thursday will be a huge task in our first match ever as a team, but the team is up for the challenge. This is an exciting time for TMU, as we continue to grow our athletic department and look forward to what God has in store for this team."
