Bears suffer tough loss against Running Eagles

CLEVELAND, Ga. (February 3, 2026) – On Tuesday, the Truett McConnell University men's volleyball team hosted Life University for an Appalachian Athletic Conference match to Life University, where the Bears played with grit but ultimately fell to the Running Eagles, 3-1.

PLAY-BY-PLAY
TMU stayed competitive in the opening set, trading points with Life through the early stages. A kill from Alex Bosman midway through the set helped the Bears regain momentum, and a key block at the net by Adam Shuman disrupted a Life rally late. The Bears remained within a point down the stretch, but Life closed the set 25–23. In the second set, the Bears worked to settle in offensively. Eduardo Andrade delivered a pair of kills to stop short scoring runs, while Christopher Zambrana helped extend several rallies with strong defensive coverage. TMU continued to battle through long points, but LU ultimately pulled away late to take the set, 25–16.

The Bears responded in the third set with improved execution. Back-to-back kills from Bosman and Shuman sparked a run that gave the Bears control midway through the frame. A timely block late in the set halted a Life push, allowing TMU to secure the set win, 25–20. The Bears continued to compete in the fourth set, staying within reach early. A kill from Andrade and a service ace helped TMU keep the score close, but LU built separation midway through the frame. Despite continued effort and extended rallies, the Bears were unable to close the gap as the match concluded with a 25–18 final set.

LEADERS
Bosman led the way for TMU with 15 kills, while Shuman finished with 13 kills and Andrade added 12 kills.  Zambrana recorded 40 assists to guide the Bears' offense. Defensively, Shuman posted 13 digs, with Zambrana and Alexi Sassier each contributing double-digit dig totals.
