CLEVELAND | The Truett McConnell lacrosse team earned its first win of the season at Montreat Friday night, coming back from two goals down at the half to win, 11-9. The Bears ended up falling in a Saturday game against (RV) University of the Cumberlands, 26-3.
The Bears and Cavaliers found themselves in a dogfight from the start of the game Friday night. The Cavs took an early 3-1 lead over TMU, but the Bears responded with goals from
Olivia Godfrey and
Rachel Brown to tie the game.
After two Montreat goals to end the first half, the Bears opened the second half with three straight goals, two from
Kaitlynn Kubin and one from Godfrey to take a 6-5 lead. Kubin scored three more goals, including the dagger with 70 seconds left to seal the win.
The Bears will next travel to No. 8 Reinhardt on Monday.
