ANDERSON, S.C. (April 15, 2023) – On Friday-Saturday, the Truett McConnell University men's track and field team traveled to compete at the 2023 Electric City Invite, hosted by Anderson University. The Bears worked hard as they earned a sixth place finish out of 27 teams, with a final team score of 47 points.

LEADERS
Leading the way for the Bears was
Cameron Alamia, who finished in first place in the 200m (21.34 seconds) and sixth in the 100m (10.64).
Connor Morgan followed placing seventh in the 800m race with a time of 1:54.86.Â

The 4x800m relay team, featuring Donnie Swinson, Morgan, Bryson Swartz and
Luke Palmer, finished in first place with a time of 7:59.68, setting a new school record. The 4x100m relay team, featuring Gary Oaks, Alamia,
Brett Wilgus and Jeremiah Giddens finished in eighth (42.30 seconds).

In the throwing events,
Austin Mathis led the way finishing fourth in the discus throw (44.14m), eighth in the shot-put throw (13.58m) and third in hammer (42.45m), setting a new personal and school record in the hammer. Also in the discus throw,
Michael Gilmore finished in fifth (41.84m).
Dylan Simms followed, placing sixth in the shot-put throw with a mark of 13.96m.

The Bears will head to Black Mountain, N.C. on Friday, April 21 to compete at the two-day Appalachian Athletic Conference Championship, hosted by Montreat College.
