MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (March 10-11, 2023) - On Friday, the Truett McConnell men's track & field team traveled to compete at the two-day Myrtle Beach Collegiate Challenge hosted by Coastal Carolina University. The Bears finished 9th of 24 teams on the weekend, with a total of 43 combined points.

"this weekend was our first DI meet of the year covering two days of great competition," said Head Coach Joe Imhoff. "I'm very proud of this team and the work they have put in all year. The school records, PR's and great performances this early in the season, is a testament to the hard work that each athlete puts in everyday. I'm excited for the rest of the season and looking forward to many more great track meets."

Leading the way for the Bears on day one was the 4x200 meter relay team, featuring Gary Oaks, Brett Wilgus, Jeremiah Giddens and Cameron Alamia, who finished second with a time of 1:30.08. The 4x800m relay team, featuring Donald Swinson, Connor Morgan, Bryson Swartz and Luke Palmer finished seventh with a time of 8:23.44. Austin Mathis finished eighth in the hammer throw with a mark of 39.38 meters, while setting a new school and personal record.

On day two, Cameron Alamia led the way placing first in the 100 meter (10.98) and second in the 200 meter (22.11). The Bears 4x100 meter relay team, featuring Alamia, Oaks, Wilgus, and Colby Liesen also secured a second place finish with a time of 42.64. In the men's shot put, Seth Fowler finished in sixth throwing a mark of 13.76m. Rounding out TMU's results was Swinson who finished seventh in the 800 meter race with a time of 2:00.10.

Up next, the Bears will head to Atlanta, Ga. on Friday, March 17 to compete at the two-day, Emory Spring Break Classic, hosted by Emory University.
