Bears compete at 2022 NAIA Track & Field NAIA National Championships

GULF SHORES, Ala. (May 27, 2022) – The Truett McConnell University men's and women's track & field team conclude their 2022 season after competing in the NAIA National Championships Wednesday-Friday at the Mickey Miller Blackwell Stadium, where TMU qualified in 13 total events, the most to ever qualify in a single season in program history.

"Nationals always has its ups and downs, and this year was no different," said Head Coach Joe Imhoff. "There were more Truett athletes competing this year than in TMU Track and Field history and I am proud of their hard work and accomplishments."

"Freshman Myesha Hall came in first place in Long Jump at nationals with a PR and school record of 6.15m making her the first ever first place national finisher in TMU Track and Field history. Congratulations to everyone who made it and competed hard and I'm already looking forward to the 2022-2023 season."

The Bears 2022 national qualifiers include: Men's 4x100 Relay (Joe Parilla, Cameron Alamia, Keishon Franklin, Keontrae Clayton), Men's 4x400 Relay (Hoy Thurman IV, Sharod Cobb, Donald Swinson, Keishon Franklin), Women's 4x100 Relay (Aaliyah Wilson, Myesha Hall, Ja'Taria Jackson, Heaven Simmons), Cameron Alamia in the men's 100m and 200m, Keishon Franklin in the 200m and 400m, Sharod Cobb in the 400m Hurdles and 400m, Connor Morgan in the 800m, Myesha Hall in the Long Jump and Triple Jump, Tenae Grigsby in the 400m Hurdles and Katilyn Babb in the Javelin Throw.

Most notable, Myesha Hall became the first ever track and field athlete to be crowned a national champion after finishing first overall in the Women's Long Jump with a mark of 6.15. Hall was seen competing in the triple jump as well, finishing 16th overall with a mark of 11.72.

The Men's 4x100m Relay team finished tied in 11th with a final time of 41.23, just .27 shy of qualifying for finals, while the Men's 4x400 relay team finished in 12th with a final time of 3:16.19. The Women's 4x100 was seen finishing in 28th after recording a time of 48.68.

Franklin competed in the Men's 200m, where he finished with a time of 22.10 (34th). Cobb was seen competing in the Men's 400m Hurdles for the second consecutive year, where he finished 10th with a time of 53.77, while Morgan rounded out the men's results in the 800m and tallied a time of 1:56.41.

The Women's 4x100 Relay team finished 28th overall, while recording a time of 48.68. Grigsby competed in the Women's 400m Hurdles where she finished in 21st with a time of 1:04.91, Babb competed in the Women's Javelin where she recorded a mark of 36.66 (18th).
