Austin Bishop (JR) and Patrick Overstreet (RSJR) have supplied a spark at the top of the Bears lineup, reaching base at a combined 48.3% giving the middle part of the order an opportunity to drive in some runs. Bishop and Overstreet would continue the trend in Game 1. In the first inning, the Bears gave starting pitcher Evan Bensch (SO) a comfortable lead allowing him to settle in and go to work. Bensch moved smoothly through the bottom of the first inning. In the top of the 2nd, the Bears tacked on two more runs. Trinity Baptist broke through in the bottom of the 3rd inning scoring two runs. The game remained 5-2 going into the 6th inning when Josh Johnston (SO) scored on an error by Trinity's 2nd baseman. Moving to the bottom of the 7th, the Eagles scored two more runs. In the top of the 6th inning, the Bears were able to scratch across three runs coming of the bats of Josh Johnston (SO) and senior Andrew Fogarty. In the top of the 7th, the Bears were down to their final three outs, but with the help of Mason Gaines' 1st RBI of the year and a Trinity Baptist walk, they were able to secure the lead for Greg Elder (JR) in the bottom of the 7th inning.
