CLEVELAND, Ga. (March 21, 2026) - On Friday and Saturday, the Truett McConnell University baseball team hosted Union Commonwealth University for an Appalachian Athletic Conference three-game series, where the Bears secured the solo game on Friday 11-1 and the doubleheader by scores of 8-5 and 4-2 on Saturday. TMU rises to an overall record of 10-18, 3-12 AAC.

GAME 1
TMU 11 – UCU 1
After a scoreless first three innings, TMU broke through in the bottom of the fourth, capitalizing on timely hitting to take control. An RBI single from
Donovan Parker opened scoring before
Jackson Blackwood followed with a two-run single up the middle to give the Bears a 3-0 advantage. UCU answered in the sixth with an RBI single to cut into the deficit, but TMU quickly responded with a decisive rally in the seventh.
Caleb Williams delivered a two-run double down the left field line to spark the inning, while a Union error and a two-RBI effort from
Dylan Hamby extended the lead to 8-1. The Bears continued to apply pressure in the eighth, adding three more runs behind a hit-by-pitch with the bases loaded and a two-RBI single from
Jacob Karvelas, securing the 11-1 victory.

GAME 2
TMU 8 – UCU 5
TMU struck first in game two as
Caleb Williams led off the bottom of the first with a solo home run. UCU responded in the second inning with back-to-back RBI hits to take a 2-1 lead, but TMU answered immediately with an RBI single from
C.J. Rivera to even the score.
The Bulldogs regained momentum with single runs in the fourth and fifth innings, including a stolen base of home, to build a 4-2 advantage. However, the Bears erupted in the bottom of the fifth with a game-changing rally. TMU plated five runs in the inning, highlighted by RBI hits from
Paul Stroemer Jr.,
Jacob Karvelas,
Jackson Blackwood, and
Brant Pace, along with a two-RBI single from
Jordan Cox to take a 7-4 lead. Union added a run in the sixth, but the Bears held on to secure the 8-5 win.

TMU 4 – UCU 2
The Bulldogs struck first in the third inning, using a sacrifice groundout to take an early 1-0 lead. TMU responded in the fourth inning with a decisive rally, taking advantage of opportunities to push across four runs. The Bears tied the game on an RBI walk from
Jackson Blackwood before
Candler Cain followed with a run-scoring single to give TMU the lead. Another bases-loaded walk by
C.J. Rivera and an RBI single from
David Walters capped the inning, extending the advantage to 4-1. Union added a run in the seventh on a sacrifice fly, but the Bears' pitching staff held firm down the stretch to secure the 4-2 victory.
