CENTRAL, S.C. (March 14, 2026) - On Friday-Saturday, the Truett McConnell University Women's Track & Field team traveled to compete in the Southern Wesleyan University Gotta Run invite where the Lady Bears recorded multiple top performances.
Leading the way on the track,
Emma Hefner delivered a strong performance in the hurdles with a second-place finish in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:10.49.
Amber Choquette also recorded a top-five finish in the 100m hurdles, placing fifth with a time of 16.49, while
Riley Stevens paced the distance runners with a third-place finish in the 800m in 2:29.42.
The Lady Bears also saw success in relay competition as the 4x400 relay team of Hefner,
Destinee Lovejoy, Stevens, and Choquette claimed first place with a time of 4:24.97. The 4x100 relay team of
Abigale Smith, Choquette,
Brooke Wilmoth, and
Autumn Brown added another strong finish, placing second with a time of 50.37.
In the field events,
Jasmine Smith led the way for TMU with a second-place finish in the shot put with a mark of 11.00m. Smith continued her strong day in the throwing events with a fourth-place finish in both the discus (33.48m) and hammer throw (37.08m).
Abigale Smith also earned a runner-up finish in the long jump with a mark of 4.60m.
TMU also saw success in the high jump as
Julia VanMinnen secured a third-place finish with a clearance of 1.55m, a new TMU Women's Track & Field program record.
