The Lady Bears look for their first win of the season in Lawrenceville, Ga.

CLEVELAND, Ga. – Truett McConnell women's basketball starts a four-game road trip tomorrow afternoon with a 5:30 p.m. tip-off time at Georgia Gwinnett College in Lawrenceville, Ga.

It is TMU's second game of the season following a 73-40 defeat to Talladega in the season opener last Saturday. The team lost its season opening game for the fifth straight year dating back to the 2022-23 season.

The Lady Bears and Grizzlies face off for the second straight year as the two teams played each other in January last season. In that matchup, Georgia Gwinnett used a 23-10 second quarter to pull away 61-47 in Lawrenceville.

The Grizzlies are 2-0 on the year with double-digit victories over Andrew (77-58) and fellow Appalachian Athletic Conference member Spartanburg Methodist College (76-66). Tomorrow's matchup is the third of a five-game home stretch for Georgia Gwinnett, which also features matchups vs. Reinhardt on Oct. 31 and Life University on Nov. 4.

In the 2025-26 season, the Grizzlies went 20-7 overall in its first season as a program. The team finished 8-0 in Continental Athletic Conference play and made an appearance in the CAC Championship.

Christen Collins has 39 points through two games and is shooting 57.1% from the field, which also includes a percentage of 53.8 from beyond the arc. Nylaa Fuller also averages double digits in scoring and is tied with Jaydah Rainey for most rebounds with 15.

In the 73-40 loss to Talladega, Ava Queen led the Lady Bears in scoring with 12 points and in rebounds with six. The team will also try to clean up on the turnover margin in game two, as it committed 30 of them in the loss.
