CLEVELAND, Ga. (January 28, 2026) - The Truett McConnell University baseball team is set to open their 2026 season on Thursday, where the Bears will host the Huntington University (Ind.) a three game non-conference series.
Baseball had an eventful season, finishing 15-28 overall, 9-21 AAC. Ten Bears earned AAC All-Academic team and NAIA Scholar Athlete honors, including juniors
Jackson Blackwood and
Ryan Coughanour, and senior
Ben Glines. Amongst the core group of returners for the Bears are seniors Glines,
Hank Simonds,
Caleb Williams,
Travis Shipley,
Dylan Sargent, and
Jacob Karvelas. TMU will be welcoming 23 incoming Bears to the program, including transfers
Brayden Alexander from Toccoa Falls College and
Kade Nicholson from Erskine College.
Thursday's game is scheduled for a 3:00 p.m. start time followed by a doubleheader on Friday at 2:00 p.m. The Bears conference-opener at Tennessee Wesleyan University is scheduled for Friday, February 13, at 2:00 p.m. followed by a double-header on Saturday, February 14, at 12:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.
