CLEVELAND, Ga. (March 1, 2024) – The Truett McConnell University women's track and field team is set to begin their 2024 season on Saturday, where the Lady Bears will travel to compete in the Victor Ice Breaker Duals hosted by Berry College.
 
"I'm looking forward to the 2024 outdoor season with this team," said Head Coach Joe Imhoff. "The new faces this year will bring another level of competition to the TMU track team that will allow us to compete with the best in the country." 
 
The Lady Bears recorded a historical 2023 season , where multiple school records were broken early on, including Myesha Hall in the 100-meter dash (12.10 seconds) and in the triple jump (12.17 meters), Sarah Owen in the 800-meter dash (2:21.64) and the 1,500-meter dash (4:55.89), Grace Jones in the shot put (11.97 meters), discus (37.22 meters) and hammer throw (44.57 meters), the 10,000m race (41:01.81) and the 4x800m relay (10:16.25). At the AAC Tournament, the Lady Bears were featured placing fourth of 11 teams, while also having six athletes, including current team members, Hall, Amya Arnold, Brooke Wilmoth and Katilyn Babb, punching their tickets to NAIA Nationals and three All-American titles were earned (Hall in long jump and triple jump, Babb in javelin). 
 
"Our schedule is very competitive and I'm looking forward to coaching this team to the best of my ability to have the opportunity to compete against the best. This will be an exciting season for the track team, and we are ready to take on the challenge of another year showing what we can do. This team is a young, hungry and hardworking and I am proud to be able to coach this group of student athletes."
 
Following this weekend's meet, the Bears will travel to compete in the CAU Panther Invitational, hosted by Clark Atlanta University on Saturday, March 9, along with competing at Emory University for the Emory Spring break Classic on Friday, March 15 - Saturday, March 16.
