Box Score 4 CLEVELAND, Ga (February 9, 2024) - The Truett McConnell University baseball team hosted University of St. Francis in two sets of doubleheaders on Thursday-Friday. The Bears fell in the first two games with scores of 1-12 and 6-7, bouncing back in game three with a winning score of 3-2and falling to a final score of 2-16 in game four.Â
PLAY-BY-PLAY
Game one saw the Cougars quick to score starting in the top of the second inning with five runs. The solo run of the game for the Bears was recorded in the bottom of the sixth after Caleb Ramsey connected perfectly with the pitch and sent the ball over the right field fence to make the score 1-5. St. Francis gained momentum to put the game out of reach in the seventh and eighth inning with a final score of 1-12. TMU bounced back in game two, sparked by a Brodie Genter three run homer over the center field fence (3-0). The Cougars didn't waste time as they regained the lead in the third inning with seven runs of their own, but the bottom of the inning saw the Bears load the bases and a successful at bat by Caleb Adair walked Mikal Mascarello in from third. TMU added two more runs in the bottom of the sixth in final efforts to gain the lead with a Griffith RBI single and Genter sacrifice fly to conclude the game with a score of 6-7.Â
Game three proved in favor of the Bears, starting with a Dylan Sargent RBI single to even the score in the third inning (1-1), followed by a clutch read on the bases from Griffith, offering the perfect opportunity to bridge the gap once again (2-2). The final run of the game saw Sargent record a sacrifice fly to left field to send Ethan Roberts home to gain the advantage and secure the win with a score of 3-2. The Cougars showed out in the final game of the series with a total of 16 runs scored, while Jordan Kenty put TMU on the board with a two run home run over the left field fence in the bottom of the sixth inning (2-16). Â
