Babb punches ticket to nationals, Lady Bears compete at Myrtle Beach Collegiate Classic

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (March 11-12, 2022) — The Truett McConnell University women's track & field team traveled to compete in the Myrtle Beach Collegiate Challenge Friday and Saturday where they finished tenth out of 23 teams.

Leading the Lady Bears this meet was sophomore Katilyn Babbwho finished sixth in Javelin throwing a mark of 41.13 meters, along with setting a new TMU record and punching her ticket to NAIA nationals. Babb will be the first Lady Bear in TMU history to attended nationals this May. 

Savannah Campbell placed second In the 1500 meter race (5:08.50) and fifth in the 5000 meter race (18:40.94). In the 4x200 relay Aliyah Wilson, Tenae Grigsby, Ja'Taria Jackson, and Myesha Hall placed fourth with a time of 1:45.42. In the 4x100 relay Wilson, Hall, Jackson, and Heaven Simmons placed fifth with a time of 50.37 sec. Rounding our results, Hall placed fifth in the long jump with a mark of 5.44m.

Up next, the Lady Bears travel on Friday, March 18 - Saturday, March 19 to compete in the Emory Spring Opener.
