DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Apr. 18, 2021) – The Truett McConnell University women's track & field team competed at the Embry-Riddle Invitational in Daytona Beach, Florida on Saturday.

The 4x100m and 4x400m relays led the Lady Bears with first-place finishes. For the second week in a row, the 4x100m relay, which features
Aaliyah Wilson,
Esther Nakanwagi,
Heaven Simmons and
Brittany Linley, set the program record with a time of 48.75. The 4x400m relay featuring Nakanwagi,
Madison Schmidlkofer,
Hayden Ponce and
Haley Thompson, recorded a season best time of 4:19.38.

Freshman
Katilyn Babb individually finished runner-up of 17 in the women's javelin with a mark of 37.30m. Schmidlkofer followed runner-up with a mark of 26.66m. Sophomore
Rachel Gooch claimed a fourth-place finish in the women's discus with a mark of 32.86m, while freshmen
Hannah Wilson took sixth (30.96m) and Babb took ninth (26.83m). H. Wilson also placed sixth in the women's shot put with a mark of 9.72, while Gooch finished in 10th (8.57m).Â

In the women's high jump, Thompson placed fourth overall with a mark of 1.48m.
Lily Lipsey place fifth overall in the women's pole vault with a mark of 2.62m. Nakanwagi also individually placed fifth overall in the women's triple jump with a mark of 10.68m.Â

Simmons placed fourth of 12 in the women's 100m with a time of 12.64. Fellow freshman A. Wilson placed eighth (12.95) and junior Linley took 10th (13.08). Simmons also placed sixth overall in the women's 200m with a time of 26.64, while A. Wilson took eighth (26.88) and Linley took ninth (26.89).

Savannah Campbell, who competed at the NAIA women's cross country national championships last week, placed fifth in the women's 5,000m with a time of 18:51.39. Freshman
Simone Chock took 10th (20:13.69).

Thompson finished fifth overall in the women's 400m hurdles with a time of 1:11.13, while A. Wilson also finished fifth in the women's 100m hurdles with a time of 16.41. Schmidlkofer took eight in the 100m hurdles with a time of 17.92.
