Box Score CLEVELAND, Ga. (Dec. 1, 2021) - The Truett McConnell University women's basketball team hosted Appalachian Athletic Conference opponent, Bryan College, inside the Benjamin F. Brady Arena on Wednesday, where the Lady Bears fell to a 43-70 defeat. TMU falls to record of 4-4, 2-4 AAC, while the Lions rose to a record of 8-0, 5-0 AAC.
PLAY BY PLAY
In the first quarter, the Lady Bears were first to make a move with a three pointer from Re'Tavia Floyd. TMU extended their lead with another shot from behind the three point arc from Floyd and Camilla Callihan. A foul on Sydnie Smith led to a good free throw for TMU's last shot of the quarter. Going into the second quarter, the Lady Bears trailed 14-18, but quickly gained momentum with a shot in the paint from Callihan. A three pointer from Jessica Jackson tied the game 23-23, with a Floyd three pointer to collect the lead. The Lions didn't let up, leaving the Lady Bears down 28-36 going into the halftime.
At the start of the third quarter, the Lions continued to game speed. TMU persisted with a layup and a shot in the paint from Jackson, followed by a Callihan free throw. A Natalie Nixon three pointer closed the deficit, but ultimately the Lady Bears still trailed 40-50 at the end of the third quarter. The fourth quarter saw the Lions on top, while the Lady Bears only capable of scoring three, resulting in a final score of 43-70.
LEADERS
Callihan recorded a double-double with 12 rebounds and 10 points, going 3-6 from the free throw line. Floyd followed with nine points, going 3-8 from behind the three point arc. Nixon had eight rebounds on the evening followed by eight points, while going 2-2 at the free throw line. Jackson had seven points, with three shots in the paint and one steal. Smith tallied five points, going 1-2 at the free throw line, with three rebounds.
