Box Score WALEKSA, Ga. (Nov. 23, 2021) - The Truett McConnell University women's basketball team traveled to face Appalachian Athletic Conference foe, Reinhardt University on Tuesday, where the Lady Bears suffered a 79-59 loss against the Eagles. TMU fell to a record of 4-3, 3-2 AAC, while Reinhardt improved to a record of 3-4, 3-1 AAC.
PLAY BY PLAY
In the first quarter, the Eagles were first to score, but a strong Lady Bears defense held the lead close in range. Quan Holton started TMU with a layup, followed by Sydney Rumble with a layup of her own. A foul on Re'Tavia Floyd gave her two successful free throws to add to the Lady Bears score. TMU ended the first quarter with a shot in the paint from Camilla Callihan for an 18-15 lead. In the second quarter, Floyd added to the lead with a shot from behind the three point arc, while Natalie Nixon followed with a three pointer of her own. The Lady Bears continued to rally with another three pointer from Nixon and Rumble. A layup from Jessica Jackson put TMU up 35-29 heading into the half.
In the third quarter, the Eagles struck first and started a rally on their own. A three pointer and layup from Floyd kept the Lady Bears in the game. Ultimately, a three pointer from Floyd and a shot in the paint from Sydnie Smith left TMU with a four point deficit at the end of the third quarter (47-51). In the fourth quarter, two layups from Callihan closed the gap in score. The Eagles were resilient and started to expand the gap from the Lady Bears, putting the game out of reach with a score of 58-79.
LEADERS
Floyd led the way offensively with 22 points, going 7-8 at the free throw line and making three shots from behind the three point arc. Callihan followed with 10 points of her own, all coming from within the paint along with two rebounds. Holton had seven points and led the way defensively with eight rebounds. Smith had six points, going 2-2 from the free throw line and 2-3 from within the paint. Rumble had five points with one rebound.

The Lady Bears return inside the Benjamin F. Brady Arena on Wednesday, Dec. 1, to face AAC opponent Bryan College. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m.
