CLEVELAND, Ga. (October 26, 2021) – The Truett McConnell University men's basketball season is set to begin Thursday, Oct. 28, where the Bears will face Voorhees College, inside the Benjamin F. Brady Arena. Tipoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
"We have a really nice mix of veteran players and new but experienced players," said Head Coach Jon Yeh. "We've relied heavily on freshmen in past years, and we won't have to do that as much this year in a transfer-heavy league. Our rebounding and athleticism should be strengths of our team. How quickly we mesh together will determine what type of on-court success we will have."
Amongst the key group of returners is senior Enocka Franky and sophomore EJ Smith. Franky was named to the All-Conference first team and All-Defensive team, while ranking No. 13 in the NAIA in total rebounds (252) and No. 17 in offensive rebounds per game (3.286). Smith earned a spot on the All-Freshmen team, after being a main a contributor to the team's success all season. The Bears concluded their 202-2021 season ranked No. 18 in total offensive rebounds (1121), along with ranking No. 20 in total blocks (98). TMU will feature a total of 16 incomers.
TMU's conference home opener is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 13, against Appalachian Athletic Conference foe, Milligan University, at 4:00 p.m.
