Bears Drop First Game Of The AAC Tournament Against Point

Kingsport, Tn. | Number five seeded Truett McConnell (23-23 overall; 12-15 AAC) took on number four seeded Point University (29-22 overall; 16-11 AAC) today in the first round of the Appalachian Athletic Conference Baseball Tournament.

The game was a battle of the pitchers, as TMU's Craig Barton and Point University's Jesse Ford had complete control over the mound.

Point scored their only run of the game in the bottom of the 8th, as the Skyhawks hit a single, which sent a runner home from third to take a 1-0 lead.

The Bears had opportunities to score throughout the game, but they would not be able to break through and ended up leaving runners on base.

Truett McConnell would drop their first game in the Appalachian Athletic Conference Baseball Tournament to Point by a final score of 1-0. Craig Barton threw over one-hundred pitches on the day, while only allowing five hits.

The Bears will play tomorrow, May 3rd, against the loser of Bryan College (38-13 overall; 21-6 AAC) and Union College (18-26 overall; 9-18 AAC) at 12 p.m. Live stream will be available.
