Baseball Falls To Middle Georgia State

Cleveland, Ga. | The Truett McConnell Baseball team played host to the Middle Georgia State Knights on Tuesday, April 19th in a non-conference matchup.

In the top of the 1st inning, the Knights jumped out early scoring 5 runs. The Bears responded in the bottom of the 1st, as Austin Bishop doubled down the left-field line. Patrick Overstreet would later drive in Bishop on a sac-fly to right.

The Knights extended their lead by one run in the 2nd inning and two runs in the 4th inning for an 8-1 lead. The Bears fought back in the bottom of the 4th. James Civelli, Davis Dasher, and Austin Bishop each reached on walks to load the bases. Josh Johnston drove in two runs with a single up the middle. Freshman Jackson Meadors then sent Bishop home on a sac-fly to narrow the Knights lead to 8-4.

The Bears scored one run in the bottom of the 9th, but they ended up falling short by a final score of 8-5.

Up next for the Bears, they will host Union College for a weekend series on April 20th and 21st.
