Box Score Cleveland, Ga. | The Truett McConnell Bears baseball team hosted Emmanuel College Lions at the TMU Baseball Complex on April 10th. The Bears entered midweek play 19-16 on the season, and they looked to split the season series with Emmanuel College. The Lions took game one of the series back on February 13th.
Freshman
Cody Nix started on the mound for the Bears, but he would run into trouble early as the Lions scored 3 unearned runs in the top of the 1st inning.
The Bears responded in the bottom of the 1st when
Austin Bishop singled up the middle to lead off. Bishop advanced to second, and he was later driven in by
Patrick Overstreet.
Emmanuel continued their offensive firepower with another three runs between the 2nd and 3rd innings to increase their lead to 6-1.Â
In the bottom of the 4th inning,
Calob Rowland doubled to deep left field. Rowland joined the lineup recently after an injury had him sidelined for most of the year.
Evan Bensch picked up an RBI with his single to right, sending Rowland home to narrow Emmanuel's lead to 5-2. Â
The Lions would go on to score 8 more runs in the final three innings, and the Bears could not answer as they fell to Emmanuel, 13-2.
