CLEVELAND | The Truett McConnell wrestling team fell in Mid-South Conference action to Reinhardt, 24-23, Wednesday evening in the Bear Cave.
After Reinhardt took the first two matches of the night,
Joe Hulen excited the crowd in the Bear Cave with a strong 3-2 decision win to make the score 8-3.
The Eagles took the 149 and 157 pound matches to extend their lead to 19-3, but, after a forfeit by Reinhardt at 165, the Bears came out firing in the final four matches.
Tavion Askew got things going when he defeated Tate Holmes by major decision at 174 pounds.
Jacob Matheson, then, came back from giving up four near-fall points to stick Brandon Reibly right on his back seconds later to earn a pinfall.
Jeff Chandler had Reinhardt's Johnathon Hill on his heels the entire match, but Hill forced the major decision win, barely keeping Reinhardt in front in the team score.
Chandler remains undefeated on the season with the win.
The Bears will travel to their final regular season open tournament this weekend in Newberry, S.C.
