BEREA, Ky. – Truett McConnell University cross country claimed second place in the Men's 8K and fourth the Women's 5K at the Mike and Mary Kay Johnson Classic at Berea College Saturday.
 
Obadiah Kipruto recorded the quickest time across the finish line for the Bears with a 27:17.34, good for second overall for the men's 8K. Teammates Brando Araujo (28:27.65, 12^th) and John Ball (28:35.92, 14^th) crossed the line less than 90 seconds later to secure spots within the top 15. Gibson Horner (29:15.45, 17^th) and Connor Morgan (29:19.90, 18^th) closed out the scoring times, giving Truett McConnell the second best total (57) among the seven competing teams.
 
Riley Stevens was the highlight of the Women's 5K, earning 12^th place with a 21:23.98. Isabella Laughton (21:36.95) closed her run less than 14 seconds later, acquiring 17^th place in the process.
 
TMU cross country will look to continue this positive momentum on October 3^rd as both the men's and women's teams travel to Louisville, Ky. for the Louisville Cross Country Classic.
