COLUMBIA, S.C. - Truett McConnell women's volleyball (11-4, 1-0 AAC) started Appalachian Athletic Conference play right with a 3-0 (25-11, 25-15, 25-16) win over Columbia College (2-6, 0-2 AAC) Saturday afternoon.

Caroline Yeager led the team in assists with 15 and contributed four digs on the match.
Aubrey Rook was the kill leader offensively with six while
Adleigh Schwier produced three aces.

The Lady Bears collected 13 total aces throughout three sets compared to just one for the Koalas. The team also compiled a hitting percentage of .346.

TMU dominated in the first set, racing out to leads of 11-2 and 16-4. Leading by 11 points, a 4-1 scoring run ended the first set as the Lady Bears held CC to just 11 points in the set, resulting in a 1-0 match lead.

The Koalas started with the advantage in set two with a 3-1 lead, but seven unanswered points by the Lady Bears flipped the script. The 7-0 run was highlighted by three kills from
Faith Clarkson and three aces by Schwier. With a 9-5 lead, TMU stormed ahead with a run of 8-1, resulting in a 11-point cushion. Columbia College could only narrow the gap to ten before a 3-1 run ended the set.

Truett began the third set with a commanding 13-3 lead helped by three aces. The home team made things more interesting with a 18-11 score later in the set, but the Lady Bears prevented the Koalas from mounting a scoring run the rest of the set. A final serve error gave TMU the 3-0 victory.

The Lady Bears stay on the road for a matchup with Montreat on Tuesday, Sept. 15 at 6:30 p.m.
