CLEVELAND, Ga. (October 31, 2023) – The Truett McConnell University wrestling team is set to begin their 2023-24 season at home against Appalachian Athletic Conference foe, Reinhardt University, on Wednesday, November 1, with match-time set for 7:00 p.m.

"Coming into this season, the goal remains the same; to Glorify God foremost as we chase excellence in all that we do," said Head Coach Patrick James. "The ultimate prize is glorifying Christ, and the guys are trusting the process for the rest!"

The Bears secured a ninth-place finish at the 2022-23 AAC Tournament, and recorded two top finishes, featuring returner Stanley Lal who placed fourth place overall in the 133-weight class after a strong run through the tournament. The Bears will be welcoming back 19 returners as well as 12 incoming Bears.

"We graduated a large group of seniors last year, but several of them have stayed behind to utilize their extra seasons of eligibility showing their commitment to our program and to the pursuit of their own high goals. We also have several underclassmen that have stepped up to assume their roles of being leaders on the team, and with the addition of our new transfers and freshman we are looking very strong. All in all, I fully believe that we will have several guys surprise the NAIA this season."
