Box Score ATHENS, Tenn. (Feb. 9, 2019) – The Truett McConnell University women's basketball team battled the Tennessee Wesleyan University Bulldogs to the very end in an Appalachian Athletic Conference contest on Saturday evening. The Lady Bears led at the half (26-25) and heading into the third (44-41) but ultimately fell 70-60.
Last time they met, the Bulldogs defeated TMU 75-61.

COACH'S COMMENTS
"I feel like we had the right game plan against them," Head Coach Tiek Fields said. "It showed well the first three quarters. We made shots and got stops when we needed. In the fourth, they slowed us down just a little going zone. And they were able to make a few more shots than us."

PLAY-BY-PLAY
The Lady Bears came out ready to play outscoring the Bulldogs 16-12 in the first 10 minutes of regulation. Tennessee Wesleyan fought back in the second quarter to outscore by three (10-13) but TMU still maintained the lead heading into halftime (26-25).

The third quarter was the closest of the night as the Bulldogs scored 18 while TMU scored 16. The Lady Bears held a 6-point lead with 30 seconds to go in the third but the Bulldogs' and-one with 13 seconds to put Tennessee Wesleyan at a one possession deficit heading into the fourth (44-41).

The Bulldogs' momentum carried over into the fourth as both Tennessee Wesleyan put up 29 points in the final 10 minutes to come in from behind for good.

LEADERS
Freshman Camilla Howell recorded a career high of 20 points and five rebounds while sophomore Sierra Kendall followed with 19 points, nine rebounds and two blocks. Freshman Nicole Bates also recorded a career high of 13 points, three assists and five rebounds.

TMU held reigning AAC player of the year, Hunter Simpson, to just nine points when she averages 17.96 points a game.
