COLUMBIA, S.C. (Feb. 12, 2019) – The Truett McConnell University women's basketball team led Allen University 34-33 at halftime but the final 20 minutes of regulation ultimately doomed the Lady Bears as they fell in an Appalachian Athletic Conference matchup on the road (74-57). The Lady Bears dropped to 5-22, 4-20 AAC on the year while the Yellow Jackets improved to 14-13, 11-12 AAC.
COACH'S COMMENTS
"We went away from the basics of basketball in that third quarter," Head Coach Tiek Fields said. "We couldn't ever get back to playing our pace in that second half."
PLAY-BY-PLAY
TMU took it to the home squad scoring 21 points in the first 10 minutes to outscore the Yellow Jackets by four. The Lady Bears led by as many as eight points. Allen went on to outscore by three before the half but the Lady Bears still held on to the lead (34-33).
The Yellow Jackets picked up the pace in the third quarter holding TMU to just nine points all the while scoring 22 (43-55). Allen pulled away by as many as 26 points in the fourth quarter to secure their second win over TMU this season.
Last time they met, TMU came up short at home (77-71).
LEADERS
Freshman Re'Tavia Floyd led with 19 points while sophomore Sierra Kendall followed with 13 points and nine rebounds. Freshman Camilla Howell added eight points and two assists while Sydney Rumble earned three steals.

The Lady Bears take their final regular season AAC road trip to Bryan College on Thursday, Feb. 14, at 5:30 p.m. TMU will host Reinhardt University on Saturday, Feb. 16, at 6:00 p.m., for senior day.
