CLEVELAND, Ga. (Nov. 1, 2018) – Freshman Ian James led the Truett McConnell University wrestling team with a major win for their season home opener against No. 12 Life University on Thursday night. The Bears fell to the Running Eagles inside the TMU Bear Cave 34-10.
James, at 157, earned his first collegiate win in a major fashion immediately entering into his freshman campaign with two ankle picks in the first minute (12-2). Prior to James' win, fellow freshman Jacob Taylor in 133 earned his first collegiate win by a point (7-6). Junior Jacob Power was the third win by the Bears but Power won it in overtime by two points in 149 (8-6).
Up next, the Bears are on the road for the Patriot Open hosted by the University of the Cumberlands on Saturday, Nov. 3.
