LAURINBURG, N.C. | In a hard fought battle, the Truett McConnell wrestling team fell short at the dual with St. Andrews, 25-24, Friday night on the road in Mid-South Conference action.
At the 133 pound weight class,
Devonte Upshaw won a hard fought battle, 8-5. At the 149 pound weight class,
Joe Hulen overcame an early injury to grind out the rest of the match and win by decision, 6-3.
The 165, 184 and 197 pound weight classes saw Bears wrestlers
David Capers,
Tavion Askew and
Jacob Matheson all pin their opponents in an impressive showing.
The Bears will next take on Campbellsville and Life University in a tri-match at Truett McConnell on Thursday. Duals start at 5 p.m. in the Bear Cave.
