CLEVELAND, Ga. – A pair of goals by Isabella Hodson paved the way towards a 5-0 shutout by Truett McConnell women's soccer (3-1-1 overall, 2-0 AAC) over Columbia College (3-2 overall, 0-2 AAC) Wednesday afternoon.
 
"I was happy about my performance today, but I want to highlight the team more than anything" Hodson said. "This group works really hard and we maintained our standard throughout the game."
 
The senior logged her third and fourth goal in the 14^th and 22^nd minute of the match. Joanna Funes, Anabella Moron and Isabelle Allen also joined the goal scoring party for the Lady Bears. Funes led the team in total shots taken with five while also having three on target.
 
TMU dominated the score sheet with 23 total shots compared to just three for the Koalas. The home team also collected more corner kick opportunities (6-0) and committed less fouls with just two in comparison to CC's six.
 
The Lady Bears controlled possession to start the game with five total shots in the first 12 minutes of play. After a tackle at the midfield zone by Erin Ward, took the pass from Lena Poulain and netted goal number three on the season to put the home team up 1-0 at 13:42. With an assist by Salome Deneubourg to set her up, Hodson collected another goal, her second of the game and her fourth of the season.
 
In the 35^th minute, Rylie Ysasi of Columbia College put forward the lone shot on target for the game, the result of which was saved by keeper Leire Rodriguex Najera, who played all 90 minutes. With a corner kick by Anabella Moron, Funes scored with an assist by Ward to make it 3-0. Allen put forth two header shots to round out the first half, but none found the back of the net and the three-goal margin remained.
 
"It's always good to get on the score sheet," Ward said. "Even in a game like this where we're up big it's good to contribute."
 
The Lady bears came out firing in the second half with three total shots and two corner kicks in the first 15 minutes of play. With the feed from Morgan Morreale, Moron collected her first goal of the season in the 74^th minute, increasing the lead to four scores. A final goal by Allen at 88:53 resulted in the five-goal win, giving TMU its second conference win.
 
Truett has now won two consecutive matches and has extended the AAC regular season winning streak to 25 games.
 
"We want to just take it one game at a time," Hodson said. "We want to get one step better every day as the season goes on."
 
The Lady Bears continue the season this weekend at the TMU Soccer Complex with a non-conference game vs. No. 22 Georgia Gwinnett at 7 p.m.
