WEST POINT, Ga. – Strong performances by
Julia Fisher and
Anna Forbus catalyzed a 3-1 (25-19, 25-21, 13-25, 25-14) victory for Truett McConnell women's volleyball (10-4) over Point University (4-8) Thursday evening.

Fisher produced her first double-double of the season with ten kills and ten digs on the night. Forbus was right behind her in kills with nine while also controlling things at the net with four total blocks. On the assist,
Caroline Yeager (15) and
Grace Lamontagne (13) both reached double-digits with the former also having four aces on the serve. Â

The Skyhawks raced out to a 9-4 lead early in the first set before six unanswered Lady Bear points propelled them in front. A 7-1 run which included two kills by Fisher put the away team in front by six. A final 5-1 scoring run gave TMU the set one win.

Point controlled the pace early in the second with leads of 13-9 and 17-12. Trailing 21-18 late in the set, despite two timeouts by the home team, the Lady Bears strung together seven consecutive points to storm back and take the set, resulting in a 2-0 match lead.

Set three was dominated by the Skyhawks. With Truett holding a 6-3 lead, a scoring run of 7-1 put Point up in front by three. TMU made it a one-point game before the home team shut things down, limiting the Lady Bears to just two points the rest of the way and forcing a fourth set.

The away squad was able to get back on its feet in set four, possessing a 14-8 lead with a Point timeout. With just four points separating the two squads with an 18-14 score, the Lady Bears used a final 7-0 scoring run to put away the Skyhawks and reach their tenth win of the season.

TMU will start conference play this weekend with a trip to Columbia College to take on the Koalas this Saturday on Sept. 12 at noon.
