MOUNT VERNON, Ga. – Truett McConnell women's volleyball (2-0) starts the 2026 season off on the right foot with wins over US Sports University (25-21, 20-25, 25-15, 25-18) and Wesleyan College (25-15, 25-13, 25-16) Friday afternoon.

Game 1: Truett McConnell 3, US Sports 1
The Eagles (1-1) took the early advantage in the first set, using four kills to build a 5-3 lead. Two Eagle errors and an
Elizabeth Cook block tied the set with both teams possessing six points. With the scored tied at seven all, US powered five unanswered points to take the lead.

With a four-point lead for the Eagles, the Lady Bears caught fire with the help of
Jade Seaman's four serve aces to take control 17-16, forcing a timeout. Eight combined errors form both teams resulted in a 21-20 lead for TMU. After the Eagles tied the set, four straight points, which included a final kill from
Brianna Hill, secured the set and the early 1-0 lead for the Lady Bears.

After a 6-4 score in favor of US Sports to start the second set, a 12-1 scoring run gave the Eagles a commanding 18-5 set lead. They led by as much as 14 points with a 20-6 lead. The Lady Bears attempted a comeback with six consecutive points and a run which saw them score five of six points, but an attack error tied the match at 1-1.

US Sports went up 3-1 to start set three before an 11-2 scoring run in favor of TMU lifted it to a 12-5 lead. Four more unanswered point, which was powered by three kills, set the score to a 16-7 Lady Bear lead. The Eagles answered back, scoring six out of the next seven points to draw within four. Three US errors gave way to a 6-0 run for Truett, putting it to set point. A kill by
Julia Fisher ended the set.

Both teams traded blows to start the fourth set with scores of 5-3, 6-5 and 8-6 with the Lady Bears in front. With the set tied at 12-12, Truett executed a 6-2 run helped by two kills from
Faith Clarkson. Three kills by the Eagles along with an error by the lady Bears set the margin to three points. TMU ended the match with four straights points, locking up its first win of the 2026 season.

Fisher led the team in kills with eight in the match while Seaman provided eight assists and six total aces. Cook and
Kaitlyn Roper both had two blocks.

Game 2: Truett McConnell 3, Wesleyan College 0
TMU stormed out to an 11-2 lead to start the match powered by two kills from Fisher. The Wolves (0-2), with a 4-1 run, cut the gap to six points which included three kills. Two kills by
Anna Forbus catalyzed a streak of four points for the Lady Bears to make it a 20-10 contest. The team rode the momentum to claim victory in the first set, holding a 1-0 match lead.

Both teams settled for a more balanced starting act in set two, resulting in a 6-5 Lady Bear lead. With 11 consecutive points, Truett took firm control thanks in large part to Fisher's three aces. Wesleyan could only muster six more points as the Lady bears took set two in dominating fashion.

The Wolves turned the tables to begin the third set, jumping out to a 6-1 advantage. TMU settled in, using a scoring run to 13-2 to grab back the lead and establish control over the set. With a 24-16 lead, a serve error by Wesleyan ended the set and ensured a 2-0 start to the season for Truett McConnell.

Clarkson assumed the role of kills leader with five in the second match.
Caroline Yeager took the lead in assists with eight while Forbus contributed three digs.

The Lady Bears face day two of the invitational tomorrow with matches against Stillman and host Brewton-Parker scheduled for 2 p.m. and 4 p.m., respectively.
