(Feb. 7, 2026) – On Saturday, the Truett McConnell University softball team traveled to Fort Valley State University for a non-conference doubleheader match-up, where the Lady Bears picked up a 10-1 victory in game one and completed the sweep with a 9-4 win in game two. TMU improves to an overall record of 4-0.
GAME ONE
TMU 10 – FVSU 1
In game one, TMU jumped ahead in the second inning, scoring three runs to take early control. Emme Souter sparked the inning by reaching base and later scoring, while Morgan Kacalek delivered a key RBI to put TMU on the board. The Lady Bears continued to apply pressure in the third, plating two more runs behind timely hitting from Cassie Boatright and Reagan Chizek. TMU added to its lead in the fourth before breaking the game open with a three-run fifth inning to extend the advantage to double digits. FVSU managed to push across one run late, but the Lady Bears' offense proved too much, sealing the 10-1 victory.
LEADERS
Souter led the offensive effort, going 3-for-4 with two RBIs and multiple runs scored. Boatright followed with three hits and an RBI, while Kacalek drove in two runs. In the circle, Gabby Hughes recorded four strikeouts while allowing just one run to earn the win.
GAME TWO
TMU 9 – FVSU 4
Game two saw the Wildcats strike first, but the Lady Bears responded quickly. TMU regained the lead in the third inning behind a two-run home run from Grace Folds, swinging momentum in favor of the Lady Bears. TMU continued to add insurance runs throughout the middle innings, highlighted by a two-RBI double from Kinsley Tout that extended the lead. Georgia Patton added a solo home run in the sixth to further pad the advantage, while Boatright and Souter each crossed the plate during a productive offensive stretch. Despite a late push from FVSU, TMU closed out the contest to complete the sweep with a 9-4 win.
LEADERS
Folds paced the Lady Bears with a home run and two RBIs, while Chizek added two hits and two RBIs. Patton also homered in the contest. Elizabeth Bennett earned the win in the circle, striking out eight batters in a complete-game effort.
