ATHENS, Tenn. (March 14, 2026) – On Saturday, the Truett McConnell University Softball team faced Tennessee Wesleyan University in an Appalachian Athletic Conference double-header match-up, where the Lady Bears swept the series 4-2 and 3-0. TMU rises to an overall record of 15-6, 4-0 AAC.
GAME 1
TMU 4 – TWU 2
The Bulldogs struck first in the second inning scoring on a wild pitch, giving TWU an early 1-0 advantage. The Lady Bears responded in the fourth inning with a pair of runs.
Reagan Chizek grounded out to drive in
Cassie Boatright and tie the game at 1-1. Later in the inning,
Morgan Kacalek singled through the left side to score
Grace Folds and give TMU a 2-1 lead. TMU added another run in the fifth inning when Chizek singled to center field to bringing home
Avery Walker, extending the Lady Bears' advantage to 3-1. Tennessee Wesleyan answered in the bottom half of the inning with the bases loaded, forcing in a run from a hit-by-pitch and cutting the deficit to 3-2. TMU added an insurance run in the seventh inning when Folds launched a solo home run to left field, securing their 4-2 victory.
GAME 2
TMU 3 – TWU 0
The Lady Bears took charge of the game in the second inning when Folds sent a solo home run center field fence, giving TMU an early 1-0 advantage. Truett McConnell added to its lead in the third inning when Boatright delivered a two-run home run to center field, bringing home
Rylee Walker and extending the Lady Bears' lead to 3-0. From there, the Lady Bears held TWU in check. TMU closed out the contest in the seventh inning, securing the 3-0 victory and completing the doubleheader sweep.
LEADERS
Boatright paced the Lady Bears offensively with a two-run home run and multiple hits across the doubleheader. Chizek added two RBIs in game one and recorded multiple hits on the day, while Folds contributed with two home runs and scored several runs.

The Lady Bears are set to host an AAC double-header against Bluefield University Wednesday, March 18. Game one is set for 2:00 p.m.
