CORBIN, Ky. – Truett McConnell University men's soccer sophomore
Jakob Hendrickson has been named the Appalachian Athletic Conference Week 7 Defensive Player of the Week.
Hendrickson earns the award after back-to-back clean sheets against AAC members Bryan College and Milligan University. He recorded seven and six saves respectively in these matches to hold both opponents scoreless.
The Chatsworth, Ga. native is in his first year as a starter for Truett McConnell and has already made his mark by leading the conference in four major goalkeeping statistics through nine games. He ranks first in the AAC in season save percentage (.862), goals against (four), goals against average (0.48) and shutouts (five). Furthermore, his five shutouts rank third in the NAIA among all keepers.
The award marks Hendrickson's first conference recognition in his collegiate career.
Hendrickson will look to defend his streak of games without conceding on Saturday as the Bears travel to the University of Pikeville.
