CLEVELAND, Ga. –Truett McConnell University men's basketball (0-1) travels to Denmark, S.C. with aspirations for their first win of the season as they prepare to face the Voorhees University Tigers (0-0) at Leonard E. Dawson Gymnasium on Friday.
Friday's contest will be the fourth ever matchup between the Tigers and Bears, a series that features a slight Bears advantage of two wins and one loss. Their most recent meeting occurred last season in Benjamin F. Brady Arena: a game that resulted in a 26-point TMU victory.
The fixture serves as the Tigers' home and season opener as they get set to follow up a 12-18 campaign from 2025-26 that featured six HBCU Athletic Conference wins. Notable returners include Ry'Darius Hill and Timothy Smith who provided 9.4 and 7.1 points per game last season respectively.
Truett McConnell enters the contest after strong performances from
Jadon Yeh,
Preston Tuggle, and
Preston Kent in its season opener, as the upperclassmen dropped a combined 30 points, contributing a majority of the team's total from Tuesday. Rebounding will likely continue to be an area of emphasis from the coaching staff as the Bears hope to improve from a -12 differential in their season opener.
Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. in Denmark.
