CLEVELAND, Ga. (September 6, 2025) - On Saturday, the No. 16 Truett McConnell University women's soccer team hosted Montreat College for their Appalachian Athletic Conference opener where the Lady Bears recorded a 3-1 victory over the Cavaliers. TMU rises to an overall record 3-0-1.
 
PLAY-BY-PLAY
In the first half, TMU started off strong earning a goal by Isabella Hodson off an assist from Saige Peterson within the first minute of the game. For the remainder of the half TMU put out nine shots but fell to see another goal. Montreat struggled to break through the Lady Bear's defense, ultimately putting pressure on goal with a shot in the last three minutes in the half, but keeper Danica Wittman made a crucial save to secure the 1-0 lead. 
 
In the second half, TMU pressed early with multiple back-to-back shots, eventually resulting in a goal by Annabel Trauschke, assisted by Abby Sheriff in the 51^st minute. In the 82^nd minute of regulation Hodson once again found the back of the net (Trauschke), giving the Lady Bears a comfortable lead of 3-0 near the end of the second half. A last chance effort by the Cavaliers saw MC finally score a goal but was not enough to take away from a Lady bears win. 
 
LEADERS
Hodson led the way for the Lady Bears with two goals and seven shots, five on goal. Trauschke followed with one goal and one assist, while Sheriff and Peterson tallied one assist a piece. Keeper Wittman was featured tallying six saves on the evening. 
 
UP NEXT
The Lady Bears will travel to Columbia, S.C. on Wednesday, September 10 to face Columbia College for an AAC match-up. Kick-off set for 6:30 p.m.
