Former Lady Bear Jordan Childs Named to AVCA Thirty Under 30 College List

CLEVELAND, Ga. (May 9, 2025) – Former Truett McConnell University women's volleyball standout Jordan Childs has been recognized as one of the top young coaches in the nation, earning a spot on the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Thirty Under 30 College list.

A 2019 graduate of TMU, Childs was a six-rotation outside hitter, a four-time NAIA All-Academic honoree, and served three years on the student-Athlete Advisory Council. She holds a bachelor's degree in business administration and earned her master's in kinesiology and coaching education from Georgia Southern in 2023.

Childs began her coaching career at Chestatee High School before taking over the varsity program at North Oconee High School, where she led the Titans to back-to-back state playoff appearances, broke 21 school records, and coached 11 All-Area athletes. She also served as a master coach with North Georgia and Lanier Volleyball Clubs, focusing on skill development and athlete mentorship.

"What made me want to coach volleyball is my commitment to growing the game and bringing recognition to the sport that has made me into who I am," said Childs. "I'm determined to build up strong women and make a lasting impact in female sports."

In 2023, Childs was selected as an AVCA Coaches 4 Coaches recipient while serving as an assistant coach at Emory University. She helped lead the Eagles to a 26-3 record—their best since 2019—including a UAA Regular Season title, a Sweet 16 NCAA Tournament appearance, and a national ranking as high as No. 4. Her efforts helped four players earn All-American honors, including Region 6 Player of the Year, Deborah Hong.

In 2024, she advanced to NCAA Division I, joining the University of Arkansas coaching staff as an assistant coach. That season, she helped guide the Razorbacks to their fourth straight 15-win campaign and coached two SEC Defensive Players of the Week and three SEC Offensive Players of the Week.

"Coaching is not just a job or even a lifestyle, it's a calling," Childs shared. "The reward of building up bold and successful athletes outweighs every sacrifice. It's a lifelong journey of learning and bettering myself to serving others."
