Cleveland, Ga. (February 5, 2025) - On Wednesday, the Truett McConnell University women's basketball team hosted Tennessee Wesleyan University for an Appalachian Athletic Conference match-up, where the Lady Bears finished on top over the Bulldogs, 62-57. TMU rises to an overall record of 11-12, 8-9 AAC.

In the first quarter, a layup by
Alexis Brewster put TMU on the board first. TWU quickly found their footing as both teams battled to pull ahead. A layup by Brewster and a good three-pointer by
Mahalah Stewart ultimately gave TMU the lead, 15-9. The second quarter, the Bulldogs saw a shift in momentum recording five consecutive points. TMU continued to remain ahead despite the unexpected rally, with a three pointer and layup by
Kayleigh Kelley. A final good three-pointer by
Madison Aguilera in the last two seconds of regulation, kept TMU up by four as both teams enter the half, 28-24.
The third quarter saw two good free throws by Brewster add to the score. Layups by Stewart,
Alissa Winters, and
Destinee Lovejoy continued to prove TMU to be a tough competitor. Two more three-point shots by Kelley, ultimately put the quarter to bed as TMU led by 10 points, 47-37. In the final quarter, both teams struggled to find good baskets for the first minutes of regulation. A layup by Kelley followed by a jumpshot by Brewster continued to keep the Lady Bears ahead as TMU fought to secure the win. Final shots by Brewster and Kelley ultimately proved TMU victorious. Final score 62-57.
LEADERS
Brewster led the way for the Lady Bears recording a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Kelley followed with 17 points and two blocks, while Stewart tallied 12 points and three assists. Lovejoy was seen recording eight rebounds and three steals, respectfully.
