CLEVELAND, Ga. (February 25, 2025) - On Wednesday, the Truett McConnell University softball team hosted Paine College for a non-conference doubleheader match-up where the Lady Bears pulled off the sweep over the lions 4-1 and 11-1. TMU rises to an overall record of 9-5.Â
GAME 1 | TMU 4 - PC 1
Momentum began rolling early for the Lady Bears as an RBI single by Cassie Boatright to right field scored Grace Folds (1-0) in the first. Smart base running by Rebecca Graham allowed TMU to add one more to the board (2-0). A triple by Kyndall Gipson ultimately confirmed the Lady Bears third run of the day, pushing Boatright over home plate as TMU ended the first inning up by three (3-0). The Lady Bears final run of the game was found in the third inning as an error on the opposing team gave Jenna O'Brien space to go home (4-0). The Lions finally point one on the board in the top of the fourth, but ultimately could not contend with the Lady Bears sharp defensive presence (4-1).Â
LEADERS
Boatright led the way for TMU going 2-2, recording one RBI and drawing one walk. Pitcher Kyndall Gipson followed recording five strikeouts, two RBIs, and one triple.Â
GAME 2 | TMU 11 - PC 1
In game two, had a big second inning putting 10 runs on the board. A single by Emme Souter started the Lady Bears off hot batting in the first run of the game with a single to left center. A walk with the bases loaded by Grace Folds ultimately allowed TMU to find run two as Hailey Cronic crossed the plate. Back-to-back hits by Graham and O'Brien allowed TMU to put the game away early with six total runs on the board. Another single by Boatright set Gipson up for a three RBI homerun to left field, capping the first inning off with 10 straight runs. PC managed to find the Lions only run of the game in the top of the fourth. TMU scored their final run of the evening in the bottom of the fourth with an RBI single by Ashley Fitts, pushing Boatright home, 11-1.Â
LEADERS
Gipson led the way for the Lady Bears in game two going 1-1, with three RBIs and a homerun. Boatright followed going 2-2 with three runs, one RBI and three stolen bases. Graham and O'Brien were both featured recording two RBIs a piece.Â
