CLEVELAND, Ga. (February 25, 2025) - On Tuesday, the Truett McConnell University women's lacrosse team hosted Greensboro College in a non-conference match-up, where the Lady Bears banned together to defeat the Pride, 17-9. TMU rises to an overall record of 1-2.
PLAY-BY-PLAY
In the first quarter, GCÂ was first on the board. The Lady Bears quickly answered with a goal from Marlo McBrayer, tying the game (1-1). Maggie Dowd, Shelby Nail, and McBrayer would go on to score three more goals in the first quarter giving TMU the early lead (4-1). Dowd started the Lady Bears off in the second quarter scoring a goal assisted by Nail. Caelyn Hatcher scored shortly after, increasing the gap. Goals by McBrayer, Nail, Hannah Thompson, and Maddie Donnelly extended the Lady Bears control of the game, 8-3, as both teams entered the half.Â
In the third quarter, the Lady Bears saw a change in momentum, scoring only two goals by McBrayer and Nail, and allowing only one goal by the visiting team. In the final quarter, the Lady Bears continued to work hard defensively holding the Pride to a single goal. Final goals by Donnelly, Dowd, and McBrayer, ultimately put the match to rest as the Lady Bears recorded a dominating win, 19-7.Â
LEADERSÂ
McBrayer led the way for TMU, recording six goals, taking 13 shots, 12 on goal. Dowd followed with five goals and four ground balls, while Nail tallied four goals and five assists. Donnelly was featured scoring two goals, while Hatcher and Thompson had one goal a piece. Goalie Sally Marcum recorded 17 saves on the evening.Â
