CLEVELAND, Ga. ( March 1, 2025) – On Saturday, the Truett McConnell University women's lacrosse team hosted Emory and Henry University for a non-conference match up where the Lady Bears suffered a tough loss 16-12. TMU falls to a record of 1-3.
PLAY-BY-PLAY
TMU was on the board first with a goal by Shelby Nail. E&H answered quickly with a goal of their own. The two teams traded goals back and forth through the first quarter with the Wasps leading, 4-3. Goals by Marlo McBrayer, and Caelyn Hatcher gave the Lady Bears momentum into the second quarter. E&H started to pull away, increasing the margin to two goals but quick responses by Maggie Dowd and McBrayer continued to keep the teams close, 7-5.
In the third quarter, Nail scored to keep the Lady Bears going. Two consecutive goals by McBrayer proved capable of closing the gap to four goals, 12-8. In the fourth quarter, the Lady Bears fought back with goals by McBrayer and Hatcher giving TMU hope for a comeback win. The Lady Bears scored their final goals of the game by McBrayer, working till the final second to change the outcome of the game, but ultimately fell to a final score of 16-12.
LEADERS
McBrayer led the way for TMU scoring seven goals, taking 10 shots, eight on goal, paired with eight draw controls and five ground balls. Nail and Hatcher followed both with two goals a piece, while Dowd had one goal. Goalie Sally Marcum recorded 15 saves on the evening.

The Lady Bears will host Culver-Stockton College on Wednesday, March 5 for a non-conference match-up. Game time is set for 2:00 p.m.
