CLEVELAND, Ga. (February 22, 2025) - On Friday-Saturday, the Truett McConnell University baseball team hosted Montreat College for a three game Appalachian Athletic Conference series were the Bears Bears suffered a tough loss in game one (5-2), and recorded a split in games two (4-1) and three (5-3). TMU sits at an overall record of 3-10, 1-5 AAC.
PLAY-BY-PLAY
Game One Loss 5-2
The first game of this series started off with The Bears and the Cavaliers trading outs. The Bears defense held strong for the majority of the game. The first runs were scored in the sixth by TMU when Dylan Thompson went home on an error by the Caviers. The second run for the Bears was also secured in the sixth as a sacrifice fly by Matt Redmond pushed Jacob Karvelas over the plate. The Bears held MC until the ninth inning, when the Cavaliers secured five runs to end the game (5-2).
LEADERS
Dylan Thompson led the Bears at the plate going 2-4 and scoring a run. Matthew Redmond also had a notable performance earning a single RBI.
Game Two Win 4-1
The Bears scored early, setting the pace of the game as a triple down the left field line by Caleb Adair put TMU in scoring position. A sacrifice fly by Brodie Genter ultimately gave Adair the go ahead to race home putting TMU on the board first with one run. In the fourth, a two RBI single by Donovan Parker to right field put the Bears in perfect position to increase the lead. TMU score their final run of game one in the fourth as an error on the Cavaliers catcher allowed. Jacob Karvelas to steal home. The Bears held Montreat to no runs until the top of the eighth, when MC scored only one. Bears win with a final score of 4-1.
LEADERS
Donovan Parker led the way at the plate going 1-1 with two RBIs. Hank Simonds led the Bears on the mound with seven strikeouts giving up zero runs.
Game Three Loss 5-3
The Bears were the first on the board in game three with a run from Adair caused by a single from Jake Edwards. MC answered back with two runs in the second quickly taking the lead. Redmond and Adair scored in the fifth giving hope for a comeback win, but ultimately could not change the outcome of the game, final score 5-3.
LEADERS
Edwards led the way in game three going 2-4 at the plate with two RBI's. Redmond followed going 1-2 with one RBI and a run.

The Bears will host Bob Jones University on Tuesday, February 25 for a mid-week match up inside the TMU Baseball Complex. Game time set for 3:00 p.m.
