CLEVELAND, Ga. (February 2, 2025) - On Saturday-Sunday, the Truett McConnell University baseball team hosted the University of Rio Grande for a non-conference three game series against the Red Storm, where the Bears fell to two tough losses on Saturday (14-12, 13-2) and bounced back on Sunday to record a 13-2 win. TMU opens the 2025 season with an overall record of 1-2.
GAME ONE | 14-12 Loss
Game one was full of action as both teams recorded two runs a piece in the first inning, featuring a two RBI double by
Caleb Williams (2-2). Two runs by the Red Storm in the top of the third gave URG the lead but was quickly answered by the Bears with a two-run homer by
Brodie Genter, proving capable of tying up the game (4-4). Eager to create space on the board, URG scored one run in both the top of the fourth and fifth, opening a small gap. In the sixth inning, the Red Storm added six to their score, forcing a response from the Bears. An RBI double by Matt Redmond, paired with RBIs by both Genter and Williams, kept the Bears hope alive (12-7). TMU gave it their all, recording five runs in the bottom of the ninth, featuring a double by
Caleb Adair, and singles by Williams,
