HARTSVILLE, S.C. (February 18, 2025) – On Tuesday, the Truett McConnell University women's lacrosse team traveled to compete in a non-conference match-up against Coker University, where the Lady Bears suffered a tough loss, 19-6. TMU opens the 2025 season with a record of 0-1.

PLAY-BY-PLAY
In the first quarter, TMU was first to score with a goal by
Maggie Dowd (1-0). A response by the opposing team, quickly shifted the energy of the game as CU put up six goals (5-1). The second quarter saw the Lady Bears once again first to attack with a goal by
Savannah Watkins (5-2). CU continued to extend their lead forcing TMU to work from behind, when a final minute goal by
Shelby Nail found the back of the net, assisted by Dowd. The Lady Bears entered the half trailing by seven (10-3). In the third quarter, both teams battled with TMU successfully adding another unassisted goal by Nail (11-4). The third quarter saw CU attack hard on offense, eager to put the game away with six more goals. In the final quarter, TMU gave it their all adding two consecutive goals by Nail and Watkins (
Aisley Whipple) to the board, but ultimately were unable to bridge the gap falling to a final score of 19-6.

LEADERS
Nail led the way for the Lady Bears recording three goals and one assist, while taking five shots, four on goal and recording three ground ball pickups. Watkins followed with two goals, taking four shots, all on goal. Dowd tallied one goal and one assist while Whipple had one assist. Goalie
Sally Marcum was featured recording 22 saves on the day, respectfully.Â
