TMU records split against BPC

MOUNT VERNON, Ga. (February 15, 2025) - On Saturday, the Truett McConnell University softball team traveled to compete in a non-conference doubleheader match-up against Brewton-Parker College where the Lady Bears recorded a 6-3 in game one, and fell in game two 7-4. TMU rises to an overall record of 5-1. 

PLAY-BY-PLAY
GAME ONE: WIN 6-3
The Lady Bears and the Barons traded innings until the top of the fourth when Cassie Boatright hit a homerun to put the Lady Bears up by one. It wasn't until the top of the sixth that the TMU would hit the board again as an RBI single by Grace Folds brought Kyndall Gipson home. TMU continues to push ahead as a wild pitch by BPC brought in Emme Souter, followed by a walk with the bases loaded, allowing Isabelle Sullivan to score a run. Rebecca Graham and Grace folds scored unearned runs to place TMU ahead, 6-0. BPC found three runs in the bottom of the sixth attempting to recover from TMUs strong performance, but ultimately could not change the outcome of game one. Final score,6-3. 

LEADERS
Boatright led the way for the Lady Bears at the plate, hitting a homerun and recording one RBI. Folds and Jenna O'Brien were also featured recording RBIs, while Folds, Graham, Boatright, Gipson, Souter and Sullivan recorded one run a piece. 

GAME TWO:  LOSS 7-4
BPC hit the board first in the second scoring two runs. The Lady Bears answered back scoring a run in the third with a single by Cassie Boatright. BPC pulled ahead scoring an additional two runs in the third, forcing the Lady Bears to work hard from behind. A single in the fifth by Gipson pushed Sullivan home as TMU worked to close the gap. Final runs in the sixth and seventh gave the Lady Bears hope but ultimately could not finish on top with the win, 7-4.

LEADERS
Graham led the way going 3-4 at the plate. Gipson followed going 2-4 with two RBIs, while Boatright went 2-4 with one RBI.

UP NEXT
The Lady Bears will be back in action on Wednesday February 19, as TMU travels to face Georgia Gwinnett College for a doubleheader match-up. Game times to be announced.
